Loading Impulse Responses In PatchWork

It seems that very few people know, so it’s probably worth a blog post! Did you know that PatchWork includes an Impulse Response (IR) loader as a built-in plug-in?

Also did you know that the IR loader also lets you manipulate the IRs in the frequency domain to change their response and that you can load either filter impulses (such as cabinets) or reverb IRs?

And did you know that it has zero latency and spreads CPU usage across multiple cores for long impulse responses?

Yes, it does all that, and it’s already included in PatchWork, no need for an extra third party plug-in. Let’s see how to use it!

1. Load the IR Loader / EQ Plug-In

IR Loader / EQ is the same plug-in. Load it from the built-in plug-ins list:

2. Drag And Drop / Load Impulse Response

You can either drag and drop a wav/mp3/flac file onto the graph or use the “Load IR” menu at the bottom right:

The impulse response is now loaded, and the graph displays its frequency response:

3. Tweak the IR

You can modify the impulse response using the IR/Mix and shift controls, or boost/cut the response using the EQ controls on the graph:

That’s it! Note that this built-in plug-in is also included in Axiom, Late Replies, the MB-7 Mixer and Fader Hub.

Enjoy!
