Our friend at ModernMixing.com has published a nice (free) tutorial that explains how to use Blue Cat’s Gain Suite multi instances capability to operate as a gain compensation plug-in and trigger distortion without changing the volume.
You can use a similar setup to trigger a compressor or any type of non-linear processor.
