We are glad to unleash today a major free update for our virtual control surface software, Blue Cat’s Remote Control.
There are quite a few exciting new features in this new version. Here is a overview!
Redesigned User Interface
A very big change is the new user interface, now including a grid layout editor to manage the 128 controls available:

You can quickly choose the number and types of controls to display (more than 40 types available), and build your own remote control without getting into custom skin development (although still available). Here are a few examples:

Multitouch Support (Windows)
Another exciting news for the user interface is multitouch support for Windows (unfortunately MacOS does not support multitouch at this point).
If you have a touchscreen, you can now move multiple controls at a time (with several fingers/hands), and even play music with the new momentary pad controls combined with the new MIDI control features.

Boosted MIDI Control
The MIDI capabilities of the remote control have also been fully redesigned. The plug-in can now use multiple types of MIDI events in addition to the existing MIDI CC messages (14-bit CC, NRPN, various MIDI Note events, Aftertouch, Channel Pressure, Pitch Bend…), both as input or output.

This means that you can also use the Remote Control to translate messages from one type to another, in case you are using a MIDI control and a MIDI device or plug-in that use different types of messages.
The new MIDI learn once feature also helps setting up MIDI control faster, and the MIDI control panel has been redesigned to load faster and let you access the parameters more quickly.
And the standalone Remote Control application can now receive and send MIDI Beat Clock and/or MIDI Time Code (MTC) messages to sync multiple devices/DAWs together!

Tone Maps
Our tone maps system has now been included in the Remote Control, which lets you access this unique presets exploring and tones creation system for one or more third party (MIDI controllable) plug-ins or devices.
Create your presets for the systems that you want to control with the Remote Control, and load them into a tone map. You can now explore areas in between your presets and morph between them to create new tones. Parameter changes are sent to the device(s) via MIDI.

The Remote Control supports bi-directional MIDI so it can be very fast to dump presets from control devices if they support it too (all our plug-ins do).
That’s it for the overview, but wait, there’s more! Remote Control 3.2 includes a lot of other features, fixes and improvements. Check the full list here.
Enjoy!
